SMM March 13 News:

Rare Earth Ore

Prices: The price of rare earth carbonate is approximately 35,900 yuan/mt, monazite is around 42,200 yuan/mt, and medium-yttrium, europium-rich ore (standard ore) is about 189,000 yuan/mt.

Supply and Demand: Currently, suppliers at the mining end remain reluctant to sell, raw ore supply remains tight, and rare earth ore prices have slightly increased.

Rare Earth Oxides

Prices: The quotation range for Pr-Nd oxide is approximately 444,000-446,000 yuan/mt, mainstream quotations for dysprosium oxide are in the range of 1.7-1.71 million yuan/mt, and terbium oxide prices have been adjusted to around 6.58-6.62 million yuan/mt.

Supply and Demand: Yesterday, driven by news of large-scale procurement, Pr-Nd prices slightly increased, suppliers raised their quotations, and low-priced sources became scarce. Prices for dysprosium oxide and terbium oxide remained relatively stable.

Rare Earth Metals

Prices: The mainstream quotation range for Pr-Nd alloy is 543,000-546,000 yuan/mt, dysprosium-iron alloy is around 1.64-1.66 million yuan/mt, and terbium metal is approximately 8.1-8.15 million yuan/mt.

Supply and Demand: Metal manufacturers maintained firm quotations, while downstream magnetic material enterprises mainly made tentative inquiries and purchased at lower prices. Market trading activity slightly improved.

Magnetic Materials

Prices: NdFeB blank prices—NdFeB blank N38 (Ce) closed at 145-155 yuan/kg; NdFeB blank 40M closed at 191-201 yuan/kg; NdFeB blank 40H closed at 195-205 yuan/kg; NdFeB blank 45SH (Ce) closed at 245-265 yuan/kg.

Supply and Demand: Yesterday, the prices of mainstream rare earth products remained stable, with overall inquiry and quotation activity being relatively robust. Tender activities by some large magnetic material enterprises pushed up the prices of low-cost sources in the market. However, the magnetic material market still exhibited polarization, with small and medium-sized magnetic material factories facing unsatisfactory order situations and showing low acceptance of high-priced raw materials.

NdFeB Scrap

Prices: PrNd recycled from NdFeB scrap closed at 457-474 yuan/kg; dysprosium recycled from NdFeB scrap closed at 1,635-1,657 yuan/kg; terbium recycled from NdFeB scrap closed at 5,123-5,178 yuan/kg.

Supply and Demand: Recently, the scrap market has tended to stabilize, with buyers and sellers remaining in a stalemate. Most traders chose to hold their inventory and maintain relatively high selling prices. Meanwhile, manufacturers' inventories were relatively sufficient, with no significant shortages observed, and purchases were made only based on actual demand.

Luxembourg-based Frontier Rare Earths today announced it successfully obtained a $20 million investment from South Africa's Industrial Development Corporation (IDS) and signed an offtake agreement with France's Carester. The company has now initiated the final feasibility study for its South African magnet-use rare earth and battery-grade manganese project. Frontier Rare Earths is currently advancing the development of the Zandkopsdrift project in South Africa. The project is expected to achieve an annual capacity of approximately 3,038 mt of Pr-Nd oxide, 114 mt of dysprosium oxide, and 25 mt of terbium oxide over the first 25 years.
